Why Kris Aquino Clicks

First, a disclaimer; I’m not a big fan of Kris Aquino. Never was a fan of her movies, nor of her TV shows. It’s not that I dislike her, and I don’t mean to disrespect her. It’s just that I never really dig that ‘lifestyle’ that she is projecting.
No, I’m not being judgmental about the person. I don’t have the right. I don’t even know her personally. And I don’t take it against a person to be honest to a fault, as what I know Kris Aquino is like.
In my humble opinion, Kris Aquino is one of the privileged few who became celebrities by virtue of having an illustrious pedigree. Of course, I’m not taking it against her now that she’s part of show business.
By virtue of her family name, I think she’ll be a celebrity anyway, whether she enters the world of entertainment or not. But it can’t be denied that today, Kris Aquino is probably one of the most popular, and most sought after celebrities in the country.
Funny, but I think I know some of the reasons why Kris Aquino clicks to millions of fans.
She unabashedly defied the wishes of her mother, a former Philippine President, and her family for the sake of love. In fact, she did it many times. She was very honest and the oft-used phrase “my life is an open book” became her mantra.
Her honesty and a rather lighthearted view of how to live life apparently tickled the imagination of fans. She was honest, and speaks her mind often. And it can’t be denied that she has this “connection” to her audience.
The bombshell she dropped that she used to have an affair with another celebrity cum politician, and the subsequent admission of contracting a sexually-transmitted disease may seem like a PR nightmare for her publicist. But it turned out that her honesty paid off, effectively winning the sympathy of fans.
Her very much publicized affair and subsequent marriage to professional basketball player, James Yap, showed that she has fully recovered from this debacle. And if fans thought the controversy ended there, they were in for a very nasty surprise.
For shortly after announcing that Kris Aquino is carrying the child of Yap, an attendant of a very popular and high-class cosmetic and beauty center surfaced claiming that Yap is a lover, even while he is married to Kris Aquino.
Kris Aquino was very honest in expressing her disappointment, and was soon back to her usual self of hogging the limelight and letting us know how show suffered every step of the way after delivering the baby.
To her fans, this honesty is what makes Kris Aquino special, particularly in the world of show business where being pretentious is the norm.
She also has a way, or a “style” that makes her unique. Ask a person what they remember most about Kris Aquino and they will surely say it is her way of saying ” Game ka na ba?” or “Deal or no deal,” in her very unique, kikay way.
And how about her acting? From doing so-and-so roles in the past, she is now a certified blockbuster actress with a string of really good movies under her belt. Not that it says much about her acting ability, or lack of it.
And since being a celebrity and endorsing products are practically inseparable, Kris Aquino is also one of the most sought after celebrity endorses.
Her line up is pretty impressive. From cosmetics to beer to canned goods, the products she endorses can literally fill a whole shopping cart. In my opinion, she fits the part of an endorser to a tee.
So, if somebody asks me if I’m a Kris Aquino fan, I’ll still say ‘no.’ But Kris Aquino, despite all her faults, wins my and many Philippine TV viewers’ respect.

i agree. i don’t know her nor a fan, but i like her honesty. she at times can be very maarte and self indulging, but you know that anything that comes out of her, good or bad, is the truth. she knows the price of being in the limelight and instead of waiting to be scrutinized she just comes out with it–whatever it is. that’s why i like her, she’s unpretentious and she doesn’t live in the la-la land, unlike some publicity hungry celebrities.
You can say that again! I hate her first then respect her… She’s a real person….
Hope there will be no more rain for her; only rainbows….

Kris is what made her real and popular,you see “honesty is still the best policy you know! That’s why to her detractors, be honest with your write-ups next time who knows one day you’d have Kris’s popularity..come to think of it!
I like Kris since I was a kid watching her in the rally at the rotunda near Torres High School. She was 7 then. My elder brother and I was just taken by her. And when she came back to Philippines, we like her the more. I’ve been in the states since 1991, and I still follow Kris through the internet. I always google her to get an update. I like her frankness and honesty. I like her openness and frankness. She is caring and generous. I just like the way she is. I think she is Angelina of the Philippines!

but I find very annoying sometimes when she makes ka artehan!
But when it comes to brain, beauty and personality KRIS rocks!

Id long been a fan of Kris ever since the Ninoy Aquino political days then to Pres. Aquino’s place in Malacanan. She started campaigning for her Dad, thats why she got my attention. With all her faults, I still love her so much and still enjoying every moves she makes. Now my loyalty to the family shows. Their honesty and integrity shows a mile away. Lets vote and put Noynoy to Presidency!
