Jericho RosalesJericho Rosales or Echo surprised the Philippine Entertainment industry when he bid momentary goodbye to show business to concentrate on his Jeans band as its vocalist.

In a matter of time the well acclaimed actor became a part time TV and movie personality. But nevertheless his star continued shine even as intrigues keep clouding career.

His most loyal fans will remember that Echo joined the first blow of Mr. Pogi in “Eat Bulaga” and won the title. Soon after he was discovered by the ABS CBN Talent Center and made the cut of Star Circle batch 4. With his boy-next-door look, it was only perfect that he joined the cast of “Palibhasa Lalake.”

The formula of forming love teams was also applied to Jericho. His first partner was Julia Clarete. Next was with Angelika dela Cruz. But who can forget his tandem with Kristine Hermosa, his co-star in the smash hit teleserye “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” and “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas.” The successful tandem flourished even in the silver screen and, well, behind the camera.

With or without his equally popular leading ladies, Echo was able to get juicy film roles including “Tanging Yaman”, “Bagong Buwan”, “Kailangang Kita”, “Noon at Ngayon: Pagsasamang Kay Ganda”, “Santa Santita”, “Nasan Ka Man” and “Pacquiao: The Movie”.

He was last seen in the small screen via “Panday” along with his current reel and real life sweetheart, Heart Evangelista.

To top it all Jericho also became top endorser of consumer products Smart Talk N Text, Penshoppe and Pepsi.

Echo’s International Wave

Jericho’s popularity has crossed even overseas. Filipinos and foreigners alike are fascinated with this lad when his drama series were translated into English – “The Promise” (Pangako Sa “Yo) and “Timeless” (Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas) — and shown abroad.

After winning the hearts of viewers in Southeast Asia, mainly Malaysia, Jericho’s fame invaded even Africa. In his recent visit to Ghana for the 50th Independence Anniversary festivities at the National Theatre (Accra, Ghana) he himself was shocked with the reception of his fans there.

Echo poses before the Ghana national flag“Their reaction to his visit was nothing short of wild hysteria, matching the excitement of the visits of Thalia, Pope John Paul II and F4,” said Jericho’s Management Associate, Marinez Elizalde of Manila Genesis Entertainment and Management.

“People showed up at the airport, along the streets, en route to the hotel and every place that Jericho would go. We were both so shocked. Even little kids would run to him and give him hugs and handshakes. It was amazing!”

With the success of his soaps broadcast by The Filipino Channel (TFC) many of his followers were alternately calling him Angelo and Christian, his TV characters.

“People would drop everything just to watch these shows, and have clamored for more Jericho’s shows to be aired!” said Janet Carboo-Danquah, Manager for Public Relations of Ghana’s local TV3 Network.

Echo returned the favor by making guest appearances and performing on several local shows in Ghana. Betcha the ratings went to the roof.

Jericho’s fans here in the Philippines will be happy to hear that he now working on some film and TV projects. So Echo the actor is back in business, where he was truly missed.
