Popular Pinoy comedian Vhong NavarroVhong Navarro’s claim to stardom is really unstoppable. From being an original member of all-male dance group Street boys, he successfully shifted to being a movie and TV star and in a short period of time. Not contented, he also set off to conquer the Philippine music industry.

The man considered as the Philippines’ answer to Jim Carrey started his movie career as sidekick to Bayani Agbayani, Robin Padilla and Cesar Montano. That’s before becoming one of the most celebrated Pinoy comedians of today’s generation. He appeared on numerous ABS-CBN shows like “Love Spell”, “Yes Yes Show”, “Whattamen” and “Super Laff-in”. While his earlier movie hits include; “Otso-Otso Pamela-mela wan”, “Gagamboy”, “Mr. Suave” and the 2005 box office hit “D Anothers.

But we were to find out soon enough that this comedian-dancer’s talents also included singing. He hit the airwaves with popular novelty songs such as “Pamela”, “Totoy Bibbo”, “Don Romantiko” and “Cha-Cha”.

Vhong’s success in the in music scene could appear odd to some, he never claimed that he’s a professional singer and yet he already bagged gold and platinum records. A Chito Roño discovery, his first taste of recording artist gig was via “Pamela,” a sort of follow up to Bayani Agbayani’s “Otso, Otso.” Shortly he became a constant hit maker.

Vhong Navarro -- actor, dancer, recording artistThis 2007 Vhong’s movie career had a boost when he wa stapped to play lead in the comedy, “Agent X44”. His wackiness and witty character was a perfect match with movie’s main lead, which was originally played by veteran actor Tony Ferrer. As expected, Vhong recorded the movie theme as well, entitled “Chick Boy.”

The single is enjoying heavy rotation in different local radio stations. Vhong has also released his third album loaded with hip-moving tracks such as “Yugyugan Na”, “Wag Kang Makulit”, and “Hala Bira”.

“One of the best traits of Vhong is that he sinks into his character whenever he has new song – sa bihis, the way he talks, malakas ang recall ng mga dance steps niya kaya nakaka-relate agad ang target market niya na mga bata,” Star Records Managing Director Annabelle Regalado said.

Apart of promoting his latest album, Vhong is working on his new series. Just a few of the characters he will bring to life in teh small screen is “Buhawi Jack”, which will pair him with Judy Ann Santos, and the small screen adaptation of “Lastikman”, both ABS-CBN productions.
